Job Description:

The Electrical Engineer performs complex engineering work involving the planning, design, construction, and operation of residential and commercial projects. This work is performed under general supervision – incumbents receive little instruction on routine work and general instruction on new assignments; work is reviewed periodically through conferences, observation of work, written reports, and adherence to policies and procedures. This position will oversee and mentor Junior Electrical Engineers. This opportunity is ideal for Senior Electrical Engineers who are passionate about providing first class designs for our clients and wish to grow their career with a firm dedicated to individual professional growth in an environment centered on team participation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively participates in many phases of photovoltaic projects, including, but not limited to: site investigations; CAD production; design and contract documents; basic specifications; and the construction administration process.

  • Responsible for full project design, and for quality of work in developing final construction documents as well as concept designs or Design Development drawings.

  • Review and revise engineering deliverables prepared by others. Develop designs in consideration of company safety program and OSHA safety requirements for construction and system operation.

  • Ability to independently complete the following engineering tasks:

    • Solar photovoltaic design

    • Detailed PVSyst calculations

    • Design drafting of construction documents using AutoCAD

    • Voltage calculations and conductor / raceway sizing

    • Short Circuit calculations

    • Electrical distribution design and single line preparation

    • Medium voltage design and specifications

    • Fault current and short circuit analysis

    • Utility coordination

    • Code review

    • Preparation of specifications

    • Understand and perform structural calculations

    • Generating product requirements documents from objectives of the business development teams, as well as codes and standards.

    • Developing rapid design concepts for team feedback

    • Evaluating cost and economic comparisons of alternative solutions

    Job Qualifications:

    • Candidates should have a Professional Engineering license.

    • Candidates Professional Engineering (PE) must be registered in the state of Florida.

    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology

    • Must be proficient with the National Electrical Code (NEC), International Building Code (IRC), International Fire Code (IFC) and other NFPA codes.

    • Proficiency in REVIT and MEP design is a plus.

    • Proficiency in SketchUp, AutoCAD and PVSyst is a requirement.
